For Immediate Release:

From Vietnam to Iraq --
Recent Military Personnel/Active/Reserve/Veterans and Invited

Interested area military personnel both active and reserve and recent veterans are invited to take part in a discussion of the military, its missions and its adversaries in the aftermath of the Vietnam War, to be held on Monday, July 26 at 1800 hrs (6 PM Civilian Time) at Simmons College. The program is offered by Vietnam Veterans, Academics, and Authors whose participation in the events of that earlier war make them especially interested in its aftermath and the men and women who followed us.

This session, scheduled to take place in Auditorium C-103 in the Main College Building at Simmons College, 300 The Fenway, Boston, is open without charge to any military veteran or active/reserve serviceperson in the Boston area. It would be helpful to have some verification of the individual’s military service record to support comments offered. Award orders and the like would be especially helpful.

The moderator will attempt to draw out the audience to participate in some form that we hope will have some semblance of coherence. A short summary of any remarks you wish to offer and your background would help the moderator adapt a rational sequence. There are no limits on the discussion, but the purpose is not to join the debate about the present war, but rather to identify what various perceptions of the Vietnam War have brought into the mix today. (“use Vietnam in your paragraph and you will probably be doing exactly what we hope to accomplish here.) The audience size will be limited to available seating space, but there will be several overflow rooms set up in the event of extraordinary interest. This program is a part of a larger series of discussions that will take place during the week of July 26th. The full week’s program requires a modest fee for participation.

Those interested are asked please not to call Simmons College for information. While Simmons is providing the facilities, the College is not able to respond to questions. Any questions about the event may be emailed to sherman1@flash.net.
